In this contribution a physicochemical, IR and Raman characterization for the tin(ii) chloride dihydrate/choline chloride eutectic mixture is reported. The redox properties of this solvent were also studied by cyclic voltammetry finding that it can be successfully used as an electrochemical solvent for electrosynthesis and electroanalytical processes and does not require negative potentials as verified by the reduction of nitrobenzene. The potential use of this eutectic mixture as a redox solvent was further explored in obtaining aromatic amines and N-arylacetamides starting from a wide variety of nitroaromatic compounds. In addition, a fast synthetic strategy for the construction of a series of indolo(pyrrolo)[1,2-a]quinoxalines was developed by reacting 1-(2-nitrophenyl)-1H-indole(pyrrole) with aldehydes. This simple protocol offers a straightforward method for the construction of the target quinoxalines in short reaction times and high yields where the key step involves a tandem one-pot reductive cyclization-oxidation.

Infectious diseases are one of the common problems encountered globally. Even though there are a number of drugs available in the market for the treatment of infectious diseases, still many new molecules are required due to the problems with the existing drugs. Hence we prepared a series of chalcones (Al-A10) containing nitrophenyl moieties by Claisen-Schmidt condensation reaction. All the ten compounds were characterized by IR, NMR, Mass spectroscopy and elemental analysis. The compounds were further screened for antitubercular activity employing MABA assay and antibacterial and antifungal activities by cup plate method against selected tubercular, bacterial and fungal organisms. The compound A9 displayed potent antitubercular activity with MIC 11.02 +/- 0.030, whereas the compound A3 showed superior antibacterial and antifungal activities. Further, molecular docking studies were performed on Thymidine Kinase (TMP) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis by employing AU autodocker. The docking scores were in association with the in vitro MABA results and also identified the potent nature of A9 with the docking score -6.7. This study helped to identify novel nitrophenyl derivatives against thymidylate kinase.

Catalytic reductions of carbonyl-containing compounds are highly important for the safe, sustainable, and economical production of alcohols. Herein, we report on the efficient transfer hydrogenation of ketones catalyzed by a highly potent Mn(I)-NHC complex. Mn-NHC 1 is practical at metal concentrations as low as 75 ppm, thus approaching loadings more conventionally reserved for noble metal based systems. With these low Mn concentrations, catalyst deactivation is found to be highly temperature dependent and becomes especially prominent at increased reaction temperature. Ultimately, understanding of deactivation pathways could help close the activity/stability-gap with Ru and Ir catalysts towards the practical implementation of sustainable earth-abundant Mn-complexes.

The reduction of graphene oxide (GO) was examined by using the extracts of different plants; cloves, white mulberry, black cumin seed, blackthorn, dark grape, and rosehip. The reduction efficiency of extracts was confirmed by XRD and spectroscopic analysis. The layered structure of reduced graphene and graphene nanocomposite decorated with palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs) was observed by electron microscopy techniques. This nanocomposite considered to be an active-selective catalyst for hydrogenation of nitroarenes in organic synthesis. This efficient catalyst can provide to develop clean, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient production routes in industrial organic chemistry. Background: Use of Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccine is effective in reducing the disease burden, but its coverage in China is unclear. The aim of this meta-analysis is to assess the coverage of Hib conjugate vaccines in children in Mainland China. Methods: We systematically searched Pubmed, Web of Science, Medline, CNKI and Wanfang to identify studies assessing the coverage of Hib vaccine in Chinese children. Random-effects models were used to obtain pooled estimates for Hib vaccine coverage and analyzed heterogeneity with meta-regression and subgroup analyses. Results: Thirty-three studies that included 7,227,480 subjects in 12 provinces met our inclusion criteria. The pooled overall coverage of Hib conjugate vaccine was 54.9% [95% confidence interval (CI): 52.9-57.0]. The pooled coverage for the nonlocal population (54.3%; 95% CI: 52.4-56.3) was lower than that for the local residents (62.0%; 95% CI: 58.4-65.6). The region-pooled coverage was higher in the east of China (59.7%; 95% CI: 57.3-62.1) than in the central and west parts of the country (48.5%; 95% CI: 40.6-56.4). Overall, 26.7% (95% CI: 20.1-33.2) had 1 dose only, 14.8% (95% CI: 10.0-19.6%) had 2 doses, 13.5% (95% CI: 9.1-17.8) had 3 doses and 14.3% (95% CI: 9.7-18.9) had 4 doses. Conclusions: We found a low coverage of Hib conjugate vaccine, particularly for the nonlocal children and those living in the central and west parts of China. Including Hib vaccine into the national immunization program is recommended to reduce disparities in vaccination coverage.
